Discount supermarket chain Lidl is set to seek planning permission for a new two-storey store in Killaloe, marking the company’s sixth proposed location in County Clare, according to company development notices.
Killaloe Site Details and Store Specifications
The German retailer has erected a site notice at Shantraud, Killaloe, laying out plans for a discount foodstore spanning over 2,400 square metres. According to the planning notices, the development is designated for a site measuring just below one hectare.
The proposed East Clare supermarket will feature an internal off-licence. The site design includes 112 car parking spaces, incorporating two bays dedicated for electric vehicles and four spaces reserved for drivers and passengers with disabilities. Lidl intends to mount solar panels directly on the roof of the premises.
County Clare Expansion Strategy
This latest filing builds on an existing network and pipeline across County Clare. According to company records, Lidl currently operates established stores in Ennis, Shannon, and Westbury.
Beyond the operational branches, the discount chain has previously secured planning permission for an additional store in Ennis, a replacement store in Shannon, and a brand-new store in Sixmilebridge. Representatives expect to submit the formal planning application for the Killaloe project within the next week.
