Splitting a dinner tab with friends no longer requires manual math over a shared appetizer plate. According to Apple, users can point their iPhone camera at a receipt using the new Siri mode to automatically divide checks. A yellow “Split Bill with Apple Cash” button appears on screen once the camera reads the itemized receipt. From there, users can search contacts, select their ordered items, choose how to split the rest of the bill, and add a tip.

The feature requires a compatible iPhone, an itemized receipt, and contacts who have Apple Cash set up to send or receive funds. Cult of Mac notes that Apple Cash remains a U.S.-only service, meaning the receipt-splitting function won’t work for users in many international regions. Apple Wallet also cannot force contacts to pay their share.

Creating Custom Passes and Digital ID Cards

Beyond splitting checks, the updated Wallet app includes a “Create a Pass” option under the plus icon. Users can scan physical cards with barcodes or screenshots of digital passes using Siri mode in the Camera app. Alternatively, passes can be built manually using three templates: Standard, Membership, and Event.

Managing Recurring Payments on Apple Card

Apple Card holders gained a direct way to monitor upcoming subscription charges. Tapping on the Apple Card in Wallet and selecting the three-dot menu icon opens a new Recurring option. This view displays all upcoming recurring charges as either a calendar or a simple list to help users catch forgotten subscription renewals before they hit.

Hotel Keys and Additional iOS 27 Updates

Participating hotels will let guests view trip details, receive timely updates, and access on-property services directly inside Apple Wallet. Cult of Mac reported that a new Insights feature for tracking spending across multiple cards is currently available in select territories but remains unavailable in the U.S. Developers also gained access to new tools for creating multiticket event posters and adding order tracking for retail apps.
