The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) has opened applications for a remote or Malaysia-based consultancy to develop specialized training materials aimed at eliminating Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) across South and Southeast Asia.
Qualified health professionals, gender specialists, and technical training consultants have until November 17, 2026, to apply for the assignment, which offers a maximum daily rate of USD 450.
Consultant Creates Training Package for Member Associations
The selected consultant will be tasked with creating a comprehensive training package for IPPF’s Member Associations to adapt and use across their healthcare service delivery locations. The responsibilities include reviewing existing international resources, conducting stakeholder interviews, developing a training manual and facilitator’s guide, facilitating a pilot training, and finalizing the package based on feedback.
While the training package will address all four World Health Organization classifications of FGM/C—with specific attention to Types I and IV which are reported in the region—the materials must also cover Types II and III to prepare providers for clients from migrant communities.
RESPOND Phase II Programme Supports Regional Initiatives
This initiative falls under IPPF’s RESPOND Phase II programme spanning 2024 to 2028. The programme operates through the East and Southeast Asia and Oceania Regional Office (ESEAOR) under the Towards Universal Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in the Indo-Pacific (TUSIP) initiative, which is funded by the Australian Government.
The regional activities cover Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, the Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka, operating alongside partners including UNFPA and UNICEF. The work also builds upon IPPF’s global Centre of Excellence on the elimination of FGM/C, which was established in 2024 and is hosted by an IPPF Member Association in Mauritania and the Arab World Regional Office.
Application Details
Applicants with 5 to 9 years of experience in programme or project management, health, and sexual and reproductive health and rights can submit their technical and financial proposals to [email protected]. The final training materials produced from this consultancy are designated for the exclusive use of IPPF Member Associations and their service delivery sites, rather than for general external distribution.
