Headline: Russian Advancements and Ukrainian Resilience: Battle Updates from Kursk and Eastern Ukraine
Subheadline: Russian forces push along several fronts as Ukraine defends key positions.
Article:
Russian forces have made incremental gains in select areas across Eastern Ukraine, albeit at a slow and contested pace, according to the latest battlefield updates. Ukrainian forces, meanwhile, continue to resist aggressively, even repelling a mechanized assault by Russian troops in an unnamed area of the Kursk region.
Kursk and Belgorod Regions
In Kursk, Russian forces have inched forward in the region’s western outskirts, nearing Nikolaevka and "minimally" approaching Makhnovka. However, independent Russian war correspondents’ claims of more significant advances in areas like Malaya Lopnya, Lopinia, and Staraya Seredina have not been visually corroborated by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
In the neighboring Belgorod region, Russians have attempted limited attacks around Volchansk and Tikhoye without any notable progress.
Харьковская область (Kharkiv Region)
On the Kharkiv front, Russian occupiers have persisted with limited assaults near Volchansk and Tikhoye but have made no advances.
Луганская область (Luhansk Region)
In Luhansk, Russian forces have pressed their advance along the Kupiansk directions without gaining significant ground. Meanwhile, Russian operators allegedly sought to disrupt Ukrainian communications near Doverkenne, while Russian airstrikes purportedly destroyed a bridge near Kupiansk. However, these claims remain unverified.
Russian troops have also launched attacks around Zalentaya, Nahodka, and Novosyolovka but failed to make substantial progress. Moreover, Russian forces are reportedly approximately 12 kilometers from Borovaya, despite claims suggesting they’re only 5 kilometers away.
Донецкая область (Donetsk Region)
In Donetsk, Russian forces have continued their assault on the settlements of Belogorivka (northeast of Severodonetsk) and Chasov Yar, meeting strong Ukrainian resistance. Simultaneously, Russian forces have made slow progress in northern Toresk, near the Torez mine and the Dneване%D0%9AShdший о sexleeps disco наedle. Russian claims of advances in Delivka and along the railroad line have not been verified.
Further south, Russian troops have battled near Pokrovsk, Mirnoy, Baranovka, Elysabethovka, and Kotlyno, with Ukrainian forces repelling their assaults. Russian forces have also put up a fight near the towns of Kurakhove, Semin, and Divnych, while minor advances have been observed east of Snihurivka.
Запорізька область (Zaporizhzhia Region)
In the west of the Zaporozhzhia region, Russian forces have assaulted Ukrainian positions but made little headway. Ukrainian sources reported that the Strategic Missile Forces hit an empty oil depot near the occupied port of Berdyansk, although ISW has not witnessed any visual evidence of this strike.
Дніпропетровська область (Dnipro/Dnepropetrovsk Region)
On the Dnipro front, Russian forces have targeted the Kherson direction but have not gained any ground. The situation remains tense, with both sides trading artillery fire and engaging in tit-for-tat attacks.
