Ivo Arkov receives over 230,000 euros in EU and state music funding

Ivo Arkov Receives Over 230,000 Euros in EU Funds and State Subsidies for Music Projects

Bulgarian actor Ivo Arkov received just over 230,000 euros in public funding for an original single and a debut European music tour, the cultural news site PloshtadSlaveikov reported, citing data from the Management Information System for EU Funds in Bulgaria, known as ISUN. The total budget approved for both projects reached nearly 293,000 euros, with the funding distributed through the National Culture Fund.

Financial records in the state system show Arkov collected 70,136 euros for his debut single and 157,239 euros to finance a promotional tour across Europe. The release of the single occurred about a year prior to the reporting of these figures, with backing secured directly through the National Culture Fund.

Personal Fees and Tour Expenses Across European Cities

ISUN documents outline how the funding was allocated among individuals and vendors involved in the production. Arkov is slated to receive just over 95,000 euros as a personal fee, while his wife, Gabriela, is assigned nearly 23,000 euros. Warm-up performer Gabo was allocated approximately 15,750 euros. In total, eight individuals tied to the tour will divide nearly 192,500 euros, consuming the bulk of the money issued by the National Culture Fund.

Concert venues and travel logistics formed major line items in the budget. Arkov spent 2550 euros to rent a hall in Paris, where attendance dropped below ten spectators despite free admission. The highest single operational expense went to the travel agency Ama Travel EOOD at 14,747 euros, covering what are likely flight bookings. Stockholm proved to be the most expensive stop for venue rentals, costing 4151 euros. The tour itself launched in Veliko Tarnovo before moving through club venues in Milan, Valencia, Barcelona, Paris, Bucharest, and Budapest.

Arkov Used Personal Funds Before Securing Grants

Earlier in the year, Arkov stated in interviews that he had advanced approximately 400,000 euros of his own money into the musical projects before receiving roughly 10 percent of the European financing. Records indicate his submissions initially sat below the funding threshold in the National Culture Fund rankings. He secured the grants after other beneficiaries withdrew, leaving unclaimed funds at the close of Marian Bachev’s ministerial tenure that otherwise faced cancellation.
