Chucklefish will launch its witch-life simulator Witchbrook on January 28, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The release date was announced during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase on October 28, 2026.
The announcement ends a wait that began when the game was first teased in 2016. Chucklefish and co-developer Robotality confirmed the January date alongside a new launch trailer.
Gameplay in the coastal town of Mossport
The release trailer features nearly two minutes of gameplay set in Mossport, the coastal town where players enroll as students at Witchbrook College. The footage showcases the studio’s pixel-art style, focusing on magic classes, skill upgrades, and crop cultivation. Nintendo of America also released a specific version of the trailer for the Switch 2.
Witchbrook supports online co-op for up to four players. These players can attend classes together, work side jobs to cover tuition costs, and build relationships with classmates. The game also includes seasonal events, hobby clubs, cooking competitions, and broom races.

Did you know? Players aren’t just studying magic; they must manage their finances by taking on additional employment to pay for their education at Witchbrook College.
A decade of development and delays
The road to the 2027 launch involved several setbacks. The game was originally targeted for a winter 2025 release window. However, in October 2025, the developers postponed the game indefinitely.
At the time of that delay, the developers stated they required more time to “ensure the world feels rich, immersive, and alive”.

The title is confirmed for a simultaneous release across five platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch 2. While the date is set for January 28, 2027, neither pricing nor pre-order details have been announced.
