Josh Liendo Out-Touches Matt Temple in Glasgow Final
The Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist fended off a late charge from Australia’s Matt Temple, securing victory by just 0.01 seconds. Temple clocked 50.43 seconds to finish in second place, narrowly missing out on gold after setting a Commonwealth Games record of 50.63 seconds during the semi-finals, according to race results.
Temple’s teammate Ben Armbruster rounded out the podium with a time of 50.58 seconds, sealing an Australian 2-3 finish. Liendo controlled the race from the start, turning first with Armbruster on his shoulder and Temple trailing by a stroke or two, before withstanding Temple’s final-metre surge to repeat the 1-2 finish seen at the Birmingham 2022 Games.

Chad le Clos Continues Historic Medal Hunt
South African swimming veteran Chad le Clos finished fifth in the 100m butterfly final with a time of 51.49 seconds, missing out on the podium. Despite the result, the 34-year-old remains a central figure at his fifth Commonwealth Games.
Le Clos kicked off the Glasgow meet by capturing a bronze medal in the men’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay. That performance brought his career total to 19 medals, leapfrogging Australian shooter Phil Adams and England’s Mick Gault to become the most decorated male athlete in Commonwealth Games history, according to official records.
