The Judicial Commission (KY) has issued an urgent reminder to candidates applying for Supreme Court (MA) judge positions to complete their documentation and personal data. This directive applies to those seeking roles as supreme judges, as well as ad hoc judges for Human Rights (HAM) and corruption (tipikor) cases.
Deadline and Submission Process
KY member and spokesperson Anita Kadir stated that all requirements must be submitted through the official KY recruitment website. She emphasized that all necessary documents must be scanned in PDF format.
The final deadline for uploading these documents is Thursday, April 16. This follows a recruitment process that opened online on March 26.
Application Statistics
As of Wednesday at 10:30 WIB, the commission recorded 200 applicants for supreme judge, 150 for ad hoc tipikor judges, and 73 for ad hoc HAM judges.
Though, a significant number of applicants have yet to finalize their submissions. Only 107 supreme judge candidates, 57 ad hoc tipikor candidates, and 16 ad hoc HAM candidates have completed their data, and files.
Strategic Importance of the Selection
KY Chairman Abdul Chair Ramadhan noted that this selection process is a mandate of the 1945 Constitution. The process began after the Supreme Court requested the filling of vacant judge positions in late February 2026.
The commission believes filling these roles is essential to address modern challenges, including regulatory changes, judicial corruption, and technological advancements. These steps are viewed as necessary to achieve a justice system that is both independent and possesses integrity.
To support this, KY conducted socialization sessions on April 7–8, 2026, to attract potential candidates.
Next Steps in the Process
Following the registration deadline, the Judicial Commission is authorized to conduct selections and determine the final candidates. A possible next step involves the commission proposing the selected names to the DPR RI in accordance with legal regulations.
The final outcome may result in the appointment of 11 supreme judges, two ad hoc HAM judges, and one ad hoc tipikor judge to meet the requirements of the Mahkamah Agung.
