Title: "From Business to Politics: Julianna Doncheva’s Journey and Lessons Learned"
Article:
Dating back over two decades, Julianna Donchevaرفته entered the political scene with the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF). Twice, she ran for mayor, in Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo, and, besides being a politician, she also wears multiple hats as a journalist, author of books, and a businesswoman.
Reflecting on her political journey, Doncheva detuvo down her experiences, "Lack of experience is a major determining factor when you enter politics. You might think things will unfold as you envisioned, but you’re met with surprising situations and phenomena that often lead to disappointment. You realize that things aren’t as simple as you initially thought."
Her final experience in politics was a turning point, she shared, "For me, the end of my political journey was a huge disappointment. When you’re not part of a system, it essentially casts you out. Many exceptionally suitable candidates stand outside politics because they see it as a place where they’d have to abandon their principles."
Navigating politics, Doncheva found, is not easy. Individuals often have to conform to party decisions, and individualism is not encouraged. As a free spirit, she struggled with this dynamic, "Politics is tough, and you always have to conform to some party decision. Individualism is not recommended, but I’m a free person."
