Karen Higgins, of No 2 Church View, Barnastang, Glenisland, Castlebar, Co Mayo, passed away peacefully on February 23rd, 2026, at the Mayo Hospice, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas & Mary McGowan.
A Life Remembered
Mrs. Higgins is deeply mourned by her husband, Eamon, and her children Chloe, Tamsyn, Darragh, Emily, and Aoife. She is also survived by her sister, Ciara, brothers-in-law Damian & John, sisters-in-law Carmel & Connie, and parents-in-law Jack & Eileen.
Reposing will be held at her residence in Glenisland (Eircode F23 T864) on Thursday evening from 5pm until 7pm. The family requests privacy at all other times.
A Requiem Mass will be held on Friday morning at 11am in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Glenisland, followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mayo Roscommon Hospice: https://www.hospice.ie/donations/in-loving-memory/. The Higgins family has expressed gratitude for the community’s cooperation and consideration during this difficult time.
