Australian-born Norwegian singer-songwriter and musician Lars Martin Myhre has passed away at the age of 68 after a long illness. The artist, known for his hit song "Noen ganger er det all right" (Some Times It’s All Right), gained widespread popularity in Norway and abroad in the 1990s.
Family reveals his passing
Myhre’s family announced his passing early Saturday morning on his Facebook page, expressing their gratitude for the love and support they received during his illness.
– We have known for a long time that the smart, funny, and kind father and husband that we have would not live forever. Our world is now much poorer, but he will continue to live in our lives through all the good memories and music.
Career and Achievements
Myhre was born in Australia but moved to Norway with his family as a child. He started his music career in the 1970s and became known for his jazz performances. In 1984, he received the Urijazzprisen (Urjazz Prize) in his hometown of Tønsberg.
In 1996, he won the Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy) for ‘Hit of the Year’ for his collaboration with Odd Børretzen on the song "Noen ganger er det all right." The track spent 98 weeks on the VG-lista, Norway’s official music chart.
Throughout his career, Myhre released several albums, both solo and with Odd Børretzen. He also produced albums for other artists, including the juleplate (Christmas album) ‘Halvdan Sivertsen’ in 2003.
