Frogn Municipality URGES Parents: Keep an Eye on Teens This New Year’s Eve
In the wake of last year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations in Drøbak, Frogn municipality has a clear message for local parents of teenagers: it’s your responsibility to keep them safe, reports Akershus Amtstidende.
"To all Frogn parents: Let’s make this New Year a good one! If it’s a stay-at-home party or a champagne toast at midnight, we urge all parents to take their responsibility seriously and watch over their teens, not just on New Year’s Eve, but every day," the municipality wrote in an Instagram post.
Last year’s festivities also marked a turning point for the traditional fireworks display in Drøbak. The event has historically been marred by drunken underage teens, often traveling from nearby areas, according to Amta.
"There was brawling, chaos, pushing, and disregard for police instructions. Even veteran police officers described it as one of the worst they’d ever seen," said Marius Gunnerud, head of the Follo police’s operations section, in an interview with the local paper last November.
