Breaking: Prominent PPDB Figure Mirav Ivanov Resigns Amidst Soaring Tensions

In a surprise turn of events, a prominent face of the ‘We Continue the Change’ (PPDB) party, Mirchev Ivanov, has announced his resignation, in an exclusive scoop obtained by Narod.bg from a trusted source within the party’s ranks.

The former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, Mirchev Ivanov, who built his political career largely through his wife Lena Borislavova, a former chief of staff to Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, has severed ties with PPDB over a contentious payment dispute involving Petkov himself.

According to our informant, the crux of the issue lies in a request made by lawyer Kiril Petkov for compensation for certain work he claims he’s completed on behalf of party leader ‘Simple Kiril’. However, the party leader refused to entertain this request.

The exit of Mirchev Ivanov, who was also the face of PPDB in the 31st MIR-Yambol region, carries significant weight, our source maintains. "The loss of Mirchev Ivanov in PPDB is a litmus test for what’s happening within the party – we’re on a steady downhill trajectory," they assert.

This resignation marks the second time within a calendar year that Mirchev Ivanov has found himself outside parliament. After failing to secure a seat in the 31st MIR-Yambol region, despite being PPDB’s lead candidate, Ivanov will now focus on caring for his young daughter Dea, while his wife Lena contemplates her future within the party amidst the escalating ‘Kiril vs. Mirchev’ saga.

The party’s fortunes have been tailing off in Ivanov’s home region. PPDB hasn’t won a single seat there since the June 2022 general election, with Ivanov topping the ballot on both occasions. In the recent vote, PPDB managed a mere 9.7% support, placing them fourth behind GERB-SDS. It appears that Ivanov’s bid to revitalize the party’s fortunes in Yambol has hit a dead end.
