Lithuania dispatching 30 military vehicles to Ukraine on Christmas Eve
In a display of solidarity with Ukraine during the holiday season, Lithuania is sending over 30 military vehicles to the war-torn country. According to Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT, the International Foundation "Friends of Ukraine" is organizing the convoy, set to depart from Kaunas on Thursday, December 26.
This is the 11th such convoy, with volunteers traveling to Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kherson, and Sumy regions to personally deliver the vehicles filled with essential supplies like wood-burning stoves, warm clothing, trench candles, and dry rations.
Meanwhile, in Kaunas, a solidarity march for Ukraine is planned for the same day, with proceeds going towards supporting Ukrainian civilians.
"Only because Ukraine is still at war can we in Lithuania celebrate Christmas in peace. The least we can do is dedicate one of these three holiday days to supporting Ukrainians fighting for their freedom," said Nerijus Budris, one of the march organizers.
Earlier this month, Lithuania sent a new batch of military aid to Ukraine, including generators, armored personnel carrier parts, weapons, and ammunition. Recently, plans were also announced to repurpose equipment from decommissioned Lithuanian nuclear and thermal power plants as energy aid for Ukraine.
