In a dawn swoop, police on the E6 highway apprehended several motorists involved in reckless driving, with one driver losing their license on the spot. The operation, undertaken by the Romerike Police District, targeted drivers displaying dangerous behavior, including excessive speeding and mobile phone use behind the wheel.
The crackdown, which began in the early hours of the morning, saw officers employing a combination of traffic observation and enforcements. “We want drivers to understand that we take traffic safety seriously,” said a police spokesperson. “Reducing the number of accidents on our roads is a top priority.”
Among those pulled over was a driver who had reportedly been clocked at over 180 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The driver’s actions resulted in an instant driver’s license revocation, adding to the growing list of similar cases in the region.
The police also took to social media to share their operation, urging drivers to adhere to the traffic rules. Their message resonated with the public, with many commending the police for their efforts in improving road safety.
“I’m glad we’re seeing more of these operations,” said a local resident. “Driving safely shouldn’t be a suggestion, it’s a necessity.”
The E6, a major thoroughfare connecting Oslo and Gardermoen, is known for its high traffic volume and occasional speeding incidents. The recent enforcement operation is part of an ongoing campaign by the Romerike Police to enhance road safety and remind drivers of the consequences of negligent driving.
