Macron Calls on U.S. to Help Change Ukraine War Dynamics, Emphasizes European Security Role

French President Emmanuel Macron has urged the United States to aid in altering the status quo of the conflict in Ukraine and persuade Russia to engage in peace talks. Meanwhile, he stresses that the primary responsibility of European nations is to "build security guarantees" for Ukraine.

Speaking at the annual meeting of French ambassadors, Macron discounted expectations of a swift and easy resolution to Russia’s full-scale invasion, contrary to promises by former U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war within 24 hours.

"The new U.S. president is aware that the United States has no chance of succeeding if Ukraine fails," Macron stated. He further warned that a Ukrainian defeat would not benefit Europeans or Americans, and that Western credibility would be undermined if the U.S. conceded to a compromise due to fatigue from the conflict.

Macron’s comments come as a growing number of countries seem to support France’s initiative to deploy international peacekeepers to Ukraine.
