French Socialists Express Deep Concern Over Macron‘s Stance on Ukraine

French Socialist deputies have voiced their "deep concern" over President Emmanuel Macron‘s recent statement on Ukraine, which initiated a tense debate within the French political landscape.

In a gathering with ambassadors at the Élysée Palace, Macron broached the Ukrainian issue, suggesting that "realistic discussions on territorial matters" could help resolve the ongoing conflict with Russia. This stance, however, has been met with stern criticism from the French Socialist Party.

The Socialists, in a strongly-worded press release, condemned Macron’s remarks, calling them "full of understatements." They emphasized their deep concern, adding that this statement undermines their party’s and coalition partners’ position.

The Socialists maintain a steadfast stance, reiterating that "Ukraine must restore its full sovereignty within the borders recognized by the international community in 1991, including Crimea and Donetsk."

Meanwhile, Polish news portal "W Najwyzszym Chalupy" provided a sober analysis of the situation: "It seems the tide is turning… It appears that the propaganda campaign of this war is gradually shifting the narrative, not just thanks to Donald Trump. One wonders when we might see similar changes in Poland."
