Title: Maduro Expresses Readiness for Dialogue with Trump; Upholds "Dialogue, Respect, and Understanding"
In a recent interview with Ignacio Ramonet on Telesur, Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela’s incumbent president, extended an olive branch to the incoming U.S. administration led by President-elect Donald Trump. A few days ahead of their respective inaugurations, Maduro emphasized his willingness to foster positive ties with the new U.S. government.
Maduro, during the interview, referred to Trump as "the President-elect who will soon arrive at the White House on January 20." He went on to express his policy stance towards the United States, highlighting "dialogue, respect, and understanding" as the guiding principles he has learned from the late Commander Hugo Chávez and practiced during his tenure.
The Venezuelan leader expressed his readiness to maintain open communication channels, stating, "Here, in this presidential seat, will be NicolásMaduro Moros, with the experience of all these years, always prepared to turn over a new leaf, to buildrelationships based on respect, dialogue, and cooperation with the U.S. government and its people."
While Maduro’s remarks may indicate a willingness to improve strained relations with the U.S., the future trajectory of Venezuela-U.S. relations depends greatly on Trump’s policies once he assumes office.
