Breaking News: Major Fire Engulfs Residential Barn in Assen
A significant fire broke out on Monday evening in a residential barn at the Witterhaar location in Assen, Groningen. The blaze was reported at around 20:35, with initial reports indicating a serious fire. Consequently, the fire department immediately escalated the response to a ‘major fire’ incident.
Firefighting crews from Assen, Smilde, Beilen, Hoogeveen, and Vries rushed to the scene to battle the flames. Upon arrival, they found the fire raging with flames reaching several meters high. The affected building is a thatched-roof residential farmhouse that is entirely consumed by the fire.
The police have cordoned off the surrounding area for safety purposes. Fortunately, the inhabitants of the farmhouse were present at the time of the fire but managed to escape unharmed.
