Haugesund Apartment Fire: Rescue Operations Ongoing, One Person Injured
HAUGESUND — Authorities in Haugesund are battling an apartment fire that broke out Monday afternoon, with emergency services racing to contain the blaze and ensure the safety of residents.
The fire was reported to the 110 emergency center in the southwestern region of Norway around 2:50 PM, with firefighters from Haugesund station responding promptly to the scene. Vaktsjef Yngve Müller, speaking from the 110 central, confirmed that emergency services had arrived at the location and initiated a ‘smoke-diving’ operation — sending firefighters into the building to locate and extinguish the fire.
However, Müller cautioned that the situation was evolving and details were still uncertain. "There are open flames, and it’s spreading in a terrace-like building, so there’s a high risk of it spreading further," he stated at approximately 3:15 PM.
