Breaking News: extensive search operation underway in Trondheim for a missing man
Trondheim, Norway — Police have launched a major search operation for a man reported missing in the Ugla residential area, located southwest of Trondheim’s city center. The man was last seen on Friday evening at 10:00 PM.
Over 100 personnel are involved in the search, including police officers, Red Cross volunteers, Norwegian Red Cross search dogs, and civil defense forces. They are combing through the area, which is blanketed in heavy snow, making the search challenging.

As the search enters its second day, police have announced that volunteer search parties will cease operations for the night. However, police will continue their efforts throughout the night, focusing on sheltered areas within the city.

The missing man is described as 31 years old, wearing a black parka, jogging pants, and blue shoes. The police urge the public to report any information or sightings by calling 02800.

Police officer and operation leader Thor Inge Oxholm Aas acknowledged that the missing man had previously gone missing but had never been gone this long or in such harsh weather conditions.
"We’re searching along major roads, plowed tractor paths, and in warming huts throughout Trondheim," Aas said. "There’s so much snow in the terrain that it’s difficult to move around without staying on marked paths. At the same time, one can quickly become disoriented and hypothermic if something were to happen off those paths."
Despite the challenging conditions, authorities remain optimistic and continue the search, assuming the missing person is still alive.
