A man allegedly attacked his mother-in-law with scissors in Rajasthan’s Jalore district on Saturday, cutting off her nose and fleeing with the severed part, according to police.

The incident occurred around 5pm in the Sarwana police station area. Babulal Khichad filed a complaint alleging his son-in-law attacked his wife while she was traveling to the police station to file a report against him.
Police identified the accused as Sohanlal, son of Bhanwarlal Kadwasra, a resident of Bhimghuda village. The victim, Sarita, is the daughter of Babulal Khichad from Doongri village. The couple had been experiencing marital problems for nearly a year, leading Sarita to live separately from her husband.
Kaili Devi, the injured woman, age 52, stated that tensions within the family had been escalating for several days. On Saturday afternoon, around 2pm, a heated argument took place at their home. She decided to go to the Sarwana police station to file a complaint against her son-in-law.
The attack occurred around 5pm while Kaili Devi was en route to the police station. Sohanlal allegedly attacked her with scissors, inflicting the severe injury before fleeing the scene.
Following the attack, Kaili Devi was initially taken to a government hospital in Sanchore. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to a hospital in Mehsana, Gujarat, for further treatment.
Sarwana circle inspector Mohanlal Kumawat stated that the accused reportedly believed Kaili Devi was responsible for the family conflict and had previously accused her of influencing his wife against him. Police have registered a case and are currently searching for Sohanlal.
