Man Found Guilty of Sexual Assaulting Two Women in Norwich Nightclub

Prosecutor Holly Postle detailed to Norwich Magistrates’ Court that the incident unfolded in the early hours of May 25 last year. Customers at Mojo’s Nightclub on Prince of Wales Road reported Sibanda’s behavior to security staff after he targeted two separate women on the dancefloor. According to court evidence, Sibanda placed his hands on one woman’s hips, groped her bottom, and ground his hips against her despite being told to stop. He then approached a second woman and repeated the actions without her consent.

Sibanda, residing on Rimer Close in Norwich, pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault. Magistrates found him guilty following a trial. A further charge involving an alleged assault on a female member of door staff at the club was dropped after no evidence was offered by the prosecution.

In a statement read aloud during the court hearing, one of the victims described how the assault left a lasting impact on her personal sense of safety and self-confidence. She noted that she struggled to come to terms with Sibanda’s lack of an admission or display of remorse, adding that she felt her experience had been dismissed.

Defending Sibanda, Anthony Nowacki offered mitigation to the court. According to the defense, “He is now extremely remorseful and sorry for what he did and wants to apologise,” adding that Sibanda felt “ashamed and wants to set a better example for his children.” The court also heard that Sibanda formerly worked as a carer but is currently unemployed after his work visa expired.
