Marc Klok Targets Southeast Asian Dominance for Persib

Persib Bandung faces Port FC at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, during the opening match of Group B in the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup 2026/2027, with midfielder Marc Klok targeting regional dominance after securing three consecutive domestic titles in the Indonesia Super League, detiksport reported.

Schedule Details for the Bangkok Match

Maung Bandung enters the regional tournament following its campaign in the Indonesia Super League 2025/2026. Meanwhile, Port FC earned its qualification by finishing as the runner-up in the Thai League and winning the Thai League Cup last season. The fixture kicks off at 19.00 WIB at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand, according to scheduling details.

To accommodate fans unable to travel to Thailand, Persib arranged public viewings called Nobar Biru at five designated locations. Four screenings take place at CGV cinemas located in Paris Van Java, 23 Paskal, Festive Walk Karawang, and Grage City Mall Cirebon, with tickets priced at Rp85.000 available through the CGV app and website, persib.co.id reported. A fifth viewing operates at Graha Persib on Jalan Sulanjana No. 17, Bandung, supported by Indofood and Indomie, where tickets cost Rp65.000 via the Persib App or Rp75.000 for on-site registration.

Coach Faces Congested October Calendar

Persib heads into the regional competition with a deep roster. Head coach Igor Tolic faces a congested October calendar that requires rotation and flexible tactics to maintain player fitness across multiple concurrent competitions, as reported by Kompas.

Historical records show Persib has never defeated Port FC in three prior meetings, recording two losses and one draw, detiksport stated.

Players Express Regional Ambitions

Marc Klok expressed motivation to represent Indonesia internationally and build on domestic success. “At the domestic level we have dominated in recent years, and now it is time to dominate in Southeast Asia,” Klok told the official Persib site, as cited by detiksport. Conversely, coach Igor Tolic adopted a step-by-step approach given the caliber of opponents in the regional tournament. “It is still too early to determine targets. We take this match by match,” Tolic told Kompas, noting that clubs competing at this level occupy the top tier of regional football.
