Katwijk‘s Beloved Mayor Cornelis Visser to Step Down in 2025
After serving with distinction for eight years, Mayor Cornelis Visser has announced his plans to retire as the head of Katwijk, effective at the end of 2025. The 59-year-old made the declaration during his New Year’s reception speech.
Visser has been the driving force behind Katwijk’s progress since his appointment in 2017. In his address, the outgoing mayor expressed his deep affection for the dynamic community he’s led. "This autumn, I will lay down my office as burgemeester of this beautiful municipality. It’s been an honor to serve this vibrant community," he stated, marking his 60th birthday and 15 years in the role as factors influencing his decision.
He further shared, "2025 feels like the right time for me to explore new challenges and experiences. I’ve loved every minute of my time here, but I’m ready for a change."
The process to select and appoint a new burgemeester is expected to extend into the fall to allow the municipal council adequate time. Mayor Visser is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for the benefit of the entire community.
