Medicare Part B 2020 deductibles, increasing premiums

Medicare Part B premiums and deductions for outpatient care will increase in 2020.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced the new rates of Friday Friday. For about 70% of Medicare beneficiaries, the premiums increase by nearly 7% to $ 144.60 per month, up from $ 135.50 in 2019.

The monthly increase of $ 9.10 continues to rise less in $ 1.50 this year. Higher income pensioners pay higher premiums and these rates are also rising.

The annual deductible envelope for Part B cover, which covers both GP and outpatient care, will increase by 7% to $ 198 in 2020, an increase of $ 13 from the annual $ 500 deductible in 2019.

The notification comes almost a month after the Social Security Administration achieved a modest living adjustment of 1.6% on benefits in 2020, which operates about $ 24 per month for the retired average worker.

"People who are actually counting on Social Security (rising) will part of that increase with this Medicare," said Fred Riccardi, president of Medicare Rights Center, a group that proposes health care issues. "For people who live without much savings, there will be no increase in Medicare premiums or drug costs in their struggle."

In 2019, Social Security adjustment – including pensioners, people with disabilities and young survivors of deceased pensioners – received a living cost adjustment of 2.8%, or an additional $ 40.90 each month, most since 2012. Premiums B from the Social Welfare check of the beneficiary.
