With his family’s backing, the organization removed the interim title on Tuesday, securing Green to a three-year contract to become full-time manager of the New York Mets.

The Mets entered the final road trip of the season at 71-85, last-place this year. Green, who was with the club in a player development role, was named interim manager. Despite the team falling out of contention, players credited Green with bringing stability to a turbulent environment.
“Andy has connected with and pushed our players to perform, despite the disappointment of the season. Over the last several months, he has brought discipline, accountability and positivity to the clubhouse, attributes we were seeking in our next manager.”

Shortstop Francisco Lindor noted that Green’s role was to come in and bring light, bring ownership, bring respect, and bring accountability. “In-game stuff, plays and all that stuff? He’s made good moves, but I don’t judge him on those things. I don’t really care about that. He was put in here more to bring light to the players, to bring accountability, to bring respect, to bring self-awareness. And that’s what he brought into the role he’s in right now,” Lindor told SNY last Saturday.
