City of Mexico to Press Charges After Unauthorized ‘Squid Game‘ Structure Revealed

The City of Mexico’s Secretary of Planning, Territorial Ordering, and Metropolitan Coordination, Alejandro Encinas, revealed today that an unauthorized structure inspired by the popular South Korean series "Squid Game" was installed at the Puerta de los Leones, located in the First Section of Chapultepec Forest.

Encinas made the announcement via his official Twitter account, confirming that the structure was removed and appropriate penalties will be applied. Moreover, a criminal complaint will be filed due to the use of forged documents in an attempt to authorize the activity.

Earlier this week, Netflix had promoted the installation on its social media platforms, inviting fans to participate in the event in Mexico City. The streaming giant announced the presence of the "Changuito mión" from "Squid Game" and encouraged followers to obtain it for free this past Sunday, January 5, at the Estela de Luz in CDMX.

Authorities have since discovered that the activity lacked the required permits, leading to the impending criminal complaint.
