Argentine President Javier Milei will return to travel to the United States, invited by Trump himself, and from there he will go to Switzerland to participate, for the second time, in the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Argentine President Javier Milei will kick off the year with two high-profile international trips. After concluding 2024 with 18 overseas visits, Milei has his first commitments of the year planned: a trip to the United States for Donald Trump‘s inauguration and a subsequent journey to Switzerland to participate once again in the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The President’s first stop is scheduled for January 20, where Trump has personally invited him to attend the oath-taking ceremony at the Capitol. This invitation is seen as a new display of the ideological and personal affinity between the two leaders, with other far-right figures such as Giorgia Meloni and Nayib Bukele also expected to attend the event.
Milei aims to strengthen his bond with Trump to improve Argentina‘s chances of securing a new loan from the International Monetary Fund. Additionally, he plans to start outlining a potential Free Trade Agreement between the two nations.
During his trip to Washington, Milei may also have a new bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to continue narrowing their differences. The President’s travel companions will include his sister Karina, Minister of Economy Luis “Toto” Caputo, and Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein.
After the United States, Milei will travel to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum in Davos. While the event begins on January 24, Milei’s speaking date has yet to be confirmed. This year’s forum, themed “Collaboration in the Intelligent Age,” is expected to attract prominent figures from around the globe, with Milei being among the most anticipated participants.
