In Finnmark, two road sections have been closed due to snow avalanche risks:

Fylkesvei 888 between Bekkarfjord and Hopseidet, the primary access route to the Nordkinn Peninsula, is closed. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has announced that they will initiate controlled traffic on this stretch from Bekkarfjord at 10:00 on Christmas Day, but the road may close at short notice.
- Fylkesvei 8024 between Akkarfjordbotn and Finnelv in Hammerfest municipality was closed but reopened around 09:30 on Christmas Day.
Heavy snow accumulation resulted in the closure of Kamøyværkrysset on Magerøya in Nordkapp municipality on Christmas Day.
Additionally, there are controlled traffic measures in place for the following routes:
Finnmark:
- Fylkesvei 889 between Snefjord and Havøysund in Måsøy municipality, with controlled traffic planned from Snefjord at 09:55 if weather permits.
- E69 between Skarsvåg and Nordkapp on Magerøya, as well as several other roads on Magerøya and in Vest-Finnmark.
Troms:
- Fylkesvei 7778 between Kvalsundtunnelen and Skarsfjord in Tromsø may be closed at short notice due to snow avalanche risks.
Orange Weather Alerts
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued two orange weather alerts for Christmas Day:

Troms and Finnmark: Expect local violent wind gusts of 33-40 meters per second and strong to storm-force winds along the coast. Winds will increase first in Troms and decrease last in East Finnmark during the night of Christmas Day into Boxing Day.
- Nordland and Troms: A storm center is expected to move into Nordland during the night of Christmas Day, passing through the area within half a day. Winds may reach up to hurricane force, with wind gusts up to 50 meters per second.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration warns travelers to stay updated on weather conditions and evaluate possible consequences before embarking on any trips.
Anita Lillevik from the Vegtrafikkentralen Nord emphasizes, "both of these weather situations will undoubtedly affect road accessibility. Ferries may be canceled, and roads and bridges may be closed or converted to controlled traffic at short notice. If you plan to travel these days, make sure to stay informed about the situation and assess potential consequences before setting out on your journey."
Snowy weather in Midt-Troms, with mild weather expected to turn into rain and sleet in the entire region later in the day.
Across the country, there is a significant risk of snow avalanches in nearly all snow avalanche-prone regions. The public is urged to avoid avalanche terrain. In Svalbard, the risk is high and steadily increasing.
