Driver Pulls Off Dangerous Stunt, Causes Major Train Delays
In a daring and reckless maneuver, a driver caused a major disruption to rail traffic between Tilburg and ‘s-Hertogenbosch on Monday evening. The incident occurred on the Gommelsestraat in Biezenmortel when the driver, traveling at high speed, rammed into a railway barrier and inches ahead of an oncoming train.
The collision sent a large screw from a warning light straight through the car’s window. Shockingly, the driver then fled the scene. Police units responded promptly, securing the area and inspecting the vehicle, but the driver remained at large for some time.
Hours later, the driver allegedly returned to the scene, according to police, who plan to launch a serious investigation into the incident. The train’s conductor, although shaken by the event, confirmed that the train was not hit, but the danger had been imminent.
The incident left around 100 passengers on board the train stranded for approximately an hour and a half. This, in turn, caused delays at other level crossings along the route due to activated safety systems. Thankfully, normal train services resumed around 9:45 pm.
