Bulgaria‘s Speaker, Nataliya Kiseleva, Joins Celebrations Honoring Christo Botev’s 177th Birthday
Bulgarian National Assembly Chairperson Nataliya Kiseleva participated in the festivities in Kaloyer, marking the 177th anniversary of Christo Botev’s birth on January 5, 2025. Kiseleva was a guest at the National Museum "Hristo Botev" in Kaloyer, attending a musical-poetic spectacle titled "He is Alive, He is…" performed by students from the Hristo Botev University in Kaloyer.
In her address to the event participants, Kiseleva emphasized that Botev was a poet who translated his words into actions, providing a source of pride. His words, she noted, resonate eternally, not just in Bulgaria, but around the world. She referenced lines from Botev’s "Farewell," encouraging a strong sense of both love and hate – devotion to one’s homeland and determination to combat injustice.
Kiseleva inscribed a message in the visitors’ book at the National Museum "Hristo Botev," stating that Christo Botev remains alive and will continue to live as long as Bulgaria stands as a nation. The Speaker participated in a pilgrimage to the memorial plaque at the birthplace of Christo Botev, near the Renaissance church "St. Virgin Mary," where she laid flowers.
Several Members of Parliament from Plovdiv region also attended the anniversary celebrations honoring the revolutionary poet.
