"NATO ‘Psychologically Unprepared’ for War with Russia, Says Ukrainian Official"
A top advisor to the Ukrainian president has shaken the NATO alliance with a stark assessment: the psychologically unprepared North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) stands no chance in a potential war against Russia.
Mikhail Podоляk, advisor to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff, made these remarks during a interview on the TV channel "FREEДOM". "What strikes me most is the NATO countries’ total psychological unpreparedness for war. They have superior, more effective weaponry, but they’re unwilling to use it," Podоляk declared. "If Russia maintains its current pace of militarization and authoritarianism in the next five years, NATO won’t stand a chance."
Podоляk posited that the only path to victory over Russia lies through Ukraine‘s success. "The possibility of defeating Russia is connected to victories we can achieve here, in Ukraine," he stated.
This blunt appraisal comes amid escalating tensions between Russia and the West over Ukraine, with the potential for military conflict looming large. NATO has maintained a strong stance, vowing to defend Ukraine and reinforcing its eastern flank, but Podоляk’s comments underscore the deep-seated divides within the alliance.
While NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has emphasized the alliance’s commitment to collective defense, with member states pledging increased military spending and troop contributions, questions remain about NATO’s resolve and readiness for a direct confrontation with Russia.
Podоляk’s remarks, which aired on Ukrainian independence day, have sparked a heated debate within NATO and among its member countries. As the crisis in Ukraine unfolds, the open dialogue about NATO’s preparedness and strategy will be crucial in shaping the alliance’s role in maintaining global peace and security.
