In a dramatic rescue operation, emergency services in Lillestrøm municipality responded to a vehicle that veered off the road and ended up in the water. One person was successfully rescued and is reported to be conscious.

"We’ve managed to pull one person out of the car, and they are awake and being attended to by medical personnel on site," said Operations Leader Lisbeth Mjøsund. "We’re working to confirm if there were any other people in the car."

While the health condition of the rescued person is stable, police have no further information on their status. The possibility of additional occupants in the vehicle is still being investigated.

"At this point, we don’t have reason to believe there were others in the car. Therefore, the search and rescue operation in the river has been called off," Mjøsund added.

Unclear if Others Were in the Car

The car was discovered in an river by passersby who alerted emergency services.

"It was some passerby who spotted the car and alerted us," Mjøsund confirmed. Diving teams from Oslo have also been deployed to search the water, according to the 110 emergency dispatch center in Southeast Norway.

All necessary resources, including rescue helicopters and air ambulances, are on the scene. They are currently working to assess the situation.

"The car has been secured, and one person is being cared for. We’re still uncertain if there were others at the scene. So, our current status is gathering more information," said Espen Stabel, duty officer at the 110 emergency dispatch center.

The situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
