NETHERLANDS – The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) has issued a code yellow alert for fog, warning of potential hazardous road conditions across the country from tonight until 10:00 AM tomorrow morning.
The alert, which commenced at 22:00 tonight, applies to all provinces excluding the Wadden Islands. The KNMI warns that visibility may drop below 200 meters in some areas, creating challenging driving conditions and increasing the risk of accidents.
Earlier today, code yellow was in effect nationwide due to fog, but it was later lifted in many provinces. However, the KNMI has now reinstated the alert for the entire country, citing the expectation that fog will spread further in the coming hours.
The KNMI advises motorists to drive cautiously, reduce their speed, and maintain a greater following distance from other vehicles. Always use your headlights in low visibility conditions to ensure you can be seen by other road users.
