Police have named 48-year-old Nicola Yvonne Perry and 49-year-old Brendon James Perry as the victims of a September 4 firearms incident in Nelson that left the community deeply shaken.

Post-Mortem Examinations on Parkers Road
Emergency responders arrived on Parkers Road shortly after the initial reports, where both individuals were found dead. Nelson Bays area commander Inspector Steve Collins stated that examinations of the Parkers Road property have since concluded, and the scene has been blessed and returned to its owners. Post-mortem examinations are also complete, according to Inspector Collins, who noted that inquiries into the circumstances of the deaths remain ongoing. Authorities are currently gathering information to present to the coroner.

Nelson mayor Nick Smith stated at the time that the shooting left many people traumatised, adding that Nelson prides itself on being a safe city and that the tragedy impacts residents across the region. Nelson MP Rachel Boyack described the event as an extremely sad day for the community.
