Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Undergo Prostate Surgery on Sunday

Israel‘s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to undergo a prostate surgery on Sunday, as confirmed by his office. The procedure, aimed at addressing a prostate tumor, is a routine one and Netanyahu is expected to make a full recovery.

The operation will take place at the Ichilov Medical Center inTel Aviv, with a team of experienced specialists led by Professor Yehuda Goldberg. The surgery is scheduled for Sunday morning, and Netanyahu is anticipated to return home later that day.

This development comes as Netanyahu is currently fighting for his political survival, facing corruption charges, and preparing for what could be his final election campaign as Likud leader. Despite these challenges, Netanyahu has vowed to continue leading the country and has sought to downplay the seriousness of his health condition.

Prostate cancer is common among men, with nearly 1 in 9 men diagnosed in their lifetime. Early detection and treatment, as Netanyahu is pursuing, significantly improves the outlook for patients. The Israeli prime minister’s office has emphasized that the tumor was detected early and is not life-threatening.

Netanyahu, who turns 73 later this month, has been Israel’s prime minister since 2009. He is currently the longest-serving leader in the country’s history.
