New 12-Story Hotel Opens at Snow Arena in Druskininkai

The Druskininkai health and recreation center AQUA has completed a 16-month reconstruction of its territory, resulting in the opening of a fresh 12-story hotel located within the Snow Arena complex. The facility is designed to serve professional athletes, active leisure enthusiasts and tourists seeking panoramic views of the surrounding resort and pine forests.

A Strategic Extension of Sports Infrastructure

According to Aivaras Kadziauskas, head of Snow Arena, the demand for on-site accommodation had been evident since the center first began operations. The new hotel serves as a natural extension of the existing infrastructure, allowing guests to combine sport, relaxation, and entertainment in a single location.

The hotel can accommodate up to 300 guests simultaneously and offers a variety of room types, including double, triple, and quadruple rooms, as well as apartments. To ensure accessibility, specific rooms have been adapted for guests with reduced mobility.

Did You Know? Snow Arena is the only skiing center in the Baltic states that operates year-round and has hosted over 17,000 athletes from across Europe, including renowned Olympians, since 2011.

Engineering Precision and Technical Challenges

The project was executed by the construction company Naresta. Tadas Grincevičius, head of Naresta, noted that this is a unique project for Lithuania due to the extreme proximity of the new high-rise to the existing structure.

The distance between the two buildings is less than 25 centimeters. This minimal gap required an exceptionally high level of precision throughout the entire construction process to ensure structural integrity and safety.

Expert Insight: By integrating high-capacity lodging directly into a specialized sports hub, the developers are moving toward a “closed-loop” tourism model. This minimizes transit friction for international athletes and high-end tourists, which is likely to increase the site’s competitiveness as a destination for professional training camps.

Expanding the Regional Appeal

Located 5 km from the Druskininkai city center on the opposite side of the Nemunas river, the complex now includes dedicated spaces for conferences and events. Whereas the hotel focuses on sport and leisure, data from the Booking platform indicates that the hotel does not feature its own pool or SPA center.

The addition of the hotel may make the entire territory a more attractive draw for both Lithuanian and foreign visitors. This expansion could potentially lead to an increase in long-term stays for athletes utilizing the arena’s three modern skiing slopes.
