According to Marvel Studios, Avengers: Doomsday received its official teaser and a massive cast reveal at San Diego Comic-Con, where directors Joe and Anthony Russo showcased exclusive footage featuring Doctor Doom alongside a sprawling ensemble of returning and new characters.
Marvel Studios Previews Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic-Con
Marvel Studios bypassed typical convention timelines by releasing the first teaser for Avengers: Doomsday five days before its Hall H panel, according to studio reports. Despite the early drop, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and directors Joe and Anthony Russo packed the venue with nearly two dozen cast members and exclusive footage. A surprise cameo featured an individual in a grey, denim-looking Deadpool outfit sounding like Ryan Reynolds, who joked about joining the movie. While the directors noted the film had already been shot, they confirmed they remain open to additional photography.
Exclusive Footage Details Doctor Doom and Sue Storm
According to attendees at the Hall H panel, the exclusive footage opens with Doctor Doom in full costume sitting on a golden throne above ground pulsing with green energy. Sue Storm delivers a speech to a room full of heroes, stating that Victor was always the smartest guy in the room and noting he used to be different before everything he loved was taken from him. After flying over a destroyed city, Reed Richards asks in a horrified tone, “Victor. Did you do this?” The sequence shows several characters, including a crying Magneto, Charles Xavier, and Steve Rogers holding a baby. Victor then tells the heroes that because they have lived storied lives, they must give them back.
Thor Clashes with Doctor Doom as Sentinels Rise
According to the convention footage description, Victor jumps out of a building and lands on the ground using a superhero landing. Thor confronts him by jumping and swinging Stormbreaker, shouting that Victor will beg for hell. Victor stops the weapon with a single finger, ignoring Thor’s sustained push before flicking him backward with green energy. Declaring that “Hell answers to me,” Victor raises a series of Sentinels out of the ground. Additional announcements regarding Avengers: Doomsday are expected next month at the D23 Expo.
