Lusail, Qatar has witnessed a significant leap in its public transportation network with the inauguration of a new tram line. The third line of Lusail Tram, launched by Qatar’s Minister of Transport, connects QNB Metro Station to Qatara Bridge, thereby looping around the entire city.

"According to the Minister, this new line not only enhances connectivity but also supports the country’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation."

The new line, which stretches over 7.5 kilometers, adds to the existing Pink and Orange lines that have been serving the city since their launch in December 2020. The expansion comes as part of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to promote public transport usage, aiming to have 20% of all trips within Lusail powered by trams by 2026.

The tram service, operated by Qatar Railways Company, continues to gain popularity among commuters. As of now, over 5.5 million passengers have used the Lusail Tram service, marking a significant increase in public transport usage in thecity.

In addition to adding new stops, the new line also improves connectivity with other public transport networks, including buses and Doha Metro, making commuting more efficient and comfortable.

Qatar’s Ministry of Transport, which oversees the public transport system, has expressed its commitment to further developing and expanding Lusail’s public transport network. Plans are underway to connect Lusail directly with other key areas in Doha and the surrounding regions.

The launch of the new tram line is a testament to Qatar’s dedication to ensuring its transportation infrastructure keeps pace with its dynamic urban development, particularly in preparation for hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022.
