Varna Set for New Mall as Construction Begins
VARNA, BULGARIA — The skyline of the Black Sea’s gem, Varna, is set to change with the commencement of construction on a new shopping mall. The development, valued at over 50 million leva (€25 million), promises to be a major addition to the city’s retail landscape.
Located near the Varna South intersection, the new mall will span approximately 30,000 square meters, excluding parking spaces. The complex, set to open its doors in late 2023, will feature a mix of retail outlets, dining options, and entertainment facilities, creating a vibrant hub for locals and tourists alike.
The project is a joint venture between local and international investors, eager to capitalize on Varna’s growing economic prospects and burgeoning tourism industry. The city, Bulgaria’s third-largest, has witnessed significant urban development in recent years, with this mall slated to be one of the largest investments in the retail sector.
The construction kick-off comes on the heels of Varna’s successful post-pandemic recovery, with retail sales showing a rebound. The new mall, once complete, is expected to create hundreds of new jobs and contribute to the city’s economic growth.
"We are thrilled to announce the start of this ambitious project," said a spokesperson for the investing consortium. "Varna is a strategic location, and we believe this mall will not only cater to the city’s growing needs but also attract visitors from across the region."
As Varna continues its development trajectory, the new mall is poised to become a prime destination, further cementing the city’s status as a premier Black Sea resort.
