President Prabowo‘s Cabinet Works Through New Year’s Eve; PPN Increase Announced
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV — As the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve 2024, ushering in 2025, several key officials in President Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet will still be at their desks, working tirelessly for the nation.
President Prabowo himself confirmed this during a press conference on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, following his announcement of an increase in the Value Added Tax (VAT) on luxury goods and services from 11% to 12%. "Look, on New Year’s Eve, the government will still be working until midnight. Many officials will be in their respective offices," Prabowo said, as reported by Breaking News KompasTV.
Earlier in the day, President Prabowo had announced the VAT increase, which will take effect starting January 1, 2025. The announcement was made at the Ministry of Finance headquarters.
In a separate statement, President Prabowo extended his New Year’s greetings to all Indonesians, expressing his hope for a joyful and optimistic start to the new year. "Once again, to all my fellow countrymen, Happy New Year. Let’s welcome the new year with joy, optimism, and confidence that Indonesia will rise again," Prabowo said.
His message came as the government prepares to implement various policies to boost the economy and improve the lives of Indonesians in the coming year.
