Catania‘s Pronto Soccorso Introduces New Prioritization System
Beginning from tomorrow, the emergency rooms of Policlinico di Catania’s Rodolico and San Marco hospitals will implement a new prioritization system for patient access.Mirroring national and regional guidelines, theaisesstablishes a five-tier numeric coding system, replacing the traditional color-coded scheme of four levels.
Under the new system,
- Code 1 signifies an emergency (formerly ‘red’),
- Code 2 indicates an urgent but time-sensitive condition (formerly ‘orange’),
- Code 3 addresses less urgent yet still time-sensitive situations (formerly ‘blue’),
- Code 4 handles less critical issues (formerly ‘green’),
- Code 5 covers non-urgent cases (formerly ‘white’).
The updated system will also ensure real-time patient data visibility on the official website, www.policlinicorodolicosanmarco.it, providing instant insights into the patient load at both facilities.
The transition aims to align Catania’s healthcare services with national and regional directives, fostering a harmonized approach to healthcare delivery across the territory.
