Authorities confirm that an avalanche has struck Myrkdalen Ski Resort, with emergency services swiftly deploying to contain the situation. The incident occurred near the Storhauge express ski lift, with officials estimating the avalanche to be around 40-50 meters wide and approximately 100 meters long.

Initial reports from the Vest Police District’s operations leader, Dan Erik Johannessen, indicate that no missing person alerts have been received from the area. While the resort hosts a significant number of people, no observations of anyone being swept away by the avalanche have been made thus far.

Emergency crews are currently at the scene, deploying search and rescue equipment to comb the area for any signs of victims. Although there are no immediate indications of anyone being trapped, efforts are underway to corroborate this information.

Fortunately, weather conditions suggest a low risk of further avalanches. Police and ski patrol personnel have been deployed within the affected zone to ensure public safety. Additionally, firefighters have been called in, with the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) group from Bergen notably dispatched.

The Norwegian Rescue Council confirmed that search teams are actively scouring the avalanche site, with an emergency helicopter on standby from Bergen. Notably, no rescue helicopter has been deployed to the scene at this time.
