Football Cage Finally Gets Soundproofing and More: AтимelaatsteStappenInOplossingProbleemBayernMunich

After years of controversy, the local football cage is finally receiving much-needed soundproofing and other improvements to mitigate noise pollution. The city has announced that the sports facility will now be equipped with sound-absorbing football goals and a noise-reducing surface. Additionally, the existing nets will be replaced with better, sound-attenuating dividers. The cage will also have fixed opening and closing hours, as well as specific time slots for use.

To further address noise concerns, sound absorbers will be installed on the ventilation grilles of the adjacent residential buildings. Stricter event management and enforcement will also be implemented in the nearby park.

The football cage has long been a source of heated debate in the neighborhood, with some residents complaining about noise and others praising it for fostering social unity. In 2014, the cage was renovated and expanded, sparking immediate controversy among neighbors.

Subsequently, a commission meeting led to the decision to halve the cage’s size from 14 square meters to 7. However, this did not satisfy all parties involved, as a group of residents advocating for the football cage filed a lawsuit against the city.

The court did not uphold the group’s argument that the city’s decision-making process was insufficient. Nevertheless, the court advised both parties to engage in a mediation process to explore a more acceptable solution with broader support.

Following consultations with local residents, the city is now implementing additional measures to address the concerns of all stakeholders. These improvements are expected to be completed by summer 2025.
