Northeastern Illinois University will launch its first doctoral program, the Ed.D. In Leadership, Equity and Inquiry (Ed.D. In LEI), with a public celebration on Thursday, March 26, at 5 p.m. In Alumni Hall on the university’s Main Campus in Chicago.
Program Launch Details
The event will unveil the vision, curriculum, and mission of the new program. Food and beverages will be provided, and complimentary parking will be available on levels 4 and 5 of the Parking Facility. While an RSVP is recommended, it is not required.
New Program and Leadership
The Ed.D. In LEI will be housed within the Daniel L. Goodwin College of Education (GCOE). Thomas Philion, Ph.D., Dean of the GCOE, stated the program has received all required approvals and is currently accepting applications for a first cohort set to begin courses in Fall 2026.
Dr. Philion emphasized the university’s belief in leadership, equity, and inquiry, stating the program will “empower teachers, administrators, nonprofit professionals and others to be at the forefront of creating meaningful, positive changes.”
Panel Discussion
The launch event will include a panel discussion titled “Bridging Theory and Practice: What Does it Indicate to Be a Scholar-Practitioner?” Panelists include Nicole Holland, Ph.D., of Northeastern Illinois University; Gloria McDaniel Hall, Ed.D., of National Louis University; and Natalie Neris, Ed.D., CEO and Principal Consultant of Root and Reimagine Consulting Collective.
Kamau Rashid, Ph.D., Founding Director of the Ed.D. In LEI, stated the program will prepare “leaders who are critically reflective and committed to transformative change.” He added that students will develop analytical tools to address professional challenges.
