Headline: Inequitable Distribution of Free Nutritious Meals in Pulo Gebang Schools

Article:

The distribution of the free nutritious meals (MBG) program in Pulo Gebang, East Jakarta, remains unequal, with some schools still awaiting their share. The program, a flagship initiative of President Prabowo Subianto, began officially on 6 January 2025, with a budget of Rp71 trillion for this year alone.

The affected schools in the Pulo Gebang complex include SMAN 11, SMPN 138, and SDN complexes 06, 07, 08, and 09. Despite being within close proximity, with SMAN 11 and SDN 08 and 09 merely 100 meters apart, the distribution has been inconsistent.

"Unfortunately, we haven’t received it yet," said a student from SDN 09, echoing the sentiments of their counterparts in SDN 08. Meanwhile, SMPN 138, SMAN 11, and SDN complexes 06 and 07 have benefited from the program.

The SPPG (Pulo Gebang Inter-School Cooperative) trucks arrived twice in the complex, first at 09:15 AM WIB and later at 14:16 PM WIB. school officials confirmed that they followed the official distribution schedule.

The government targets 3 million beneficiaries by March 2025, scaling up to 15 million by the end of the year. With the program’s significance, the education department is coordinating closely with local governments to ensure no student is left hungry.
