Menteri Agama Nasaruddin Umar a foresight of Peace and Harmony during Christmas

In a spirit of unification and camaraderie, Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, visited several churches in Jakarta today, accompanied by Minister of Coordinating Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, Minister of Coordinating Politics, Law, and Security, Budi Gunawan, and National Police Chief, Listyo Sigit. Minister Nasaruddin greeted Christian devotees attending Christmas mass at the Archbishop Cathedral, the Indoneesia Christian Church (GKI) Samanhudi, and the Indonesian Protestant Church in Jakarta’s Immanuel GPIB.

Minister Nasaruddin expressed his hope that this year’s Christmas would bring peace and joy to all humanity. "Our Christmas this year adds to our spiritual strength, bringing us closer to the Almighty. This should foster love and harmony among all humans," said Minister Nasaruddin on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in Jakarta.

"Today, we are here with the Minister of Law and Human Rights, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, leaders of the Church, and Christian devotees to oversee and wish a peaceful and smooth Christmas and New Year celebration," Minister Nasaruddin added.

The Minister also advised Christian devotees to use Christmas as an opportunity to deepen their understanding of their religious teachings. He believed that a harmonious society can be achieved when all citizens practicese their religion diligently. "May this Christmas bring everlasting peace and happiness to us all," he stated.

Minister Nasaruddin also highlighted the importance of preserving harmony and brotherhood in Indonesia’s diverse society. He hoped that the Christmas spirit would serve as a reflection and introspection moment for strengthening human Bonds and our relationship with God, as well as our responsibility towards our environment. "May this Christmas bring everlasting peace and happiness, especially in our beautiful nation," he concluded.
