Title: Revolutionizing Fitness Center Design and Management”>Corporate Wellness: Olympica’s WeSports Center Integrates Fitness, Gaming, and eSports
In the realm of employee well-being, innovative initiatives that combine fitness, gaming, and eSports are gaining traction. These initiatives aim to promote physical health among employees while fostering an inclusive and sustainable company culture. Recently, Olympica, a pioneering startup in corporate well-being, unveiled its WeSports Center project at the 2024 Maker Faire Rome, an international event dedicated to innovation.
The WeSports Center is a unique format that blends fitness, gaming, and competitive eSports, offering businesses innovative solutions to create relational spaces and new models of employee engagement. "Currently, there’s no other format designed to be integrated within companies," says Nino Geraci, founder of Olympica. "Until now, only training courses were available." This approach aligns with modern employer branding and talent attraction strategies, promoting work-life balance.
Inspired by the principles of the UN’s Agenda 2030 and the Olympic Charter, the WeSports Center creates an inclusive and sustainable environment for employee well-being. It emphasizes socialization, collaboration, and team spirit, setting it apart with several key aspects.
Supported by initiatives like Boost Your Ideas by Lazio Innova, Tech4You ecosystem funded by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), and Entopan Innovation (incubator, accelerator, and open innovation hub by Harmonic Innovation Group), the WeSports Center will be realized within the Harmonic Innovation Hub. This 40,000 square meter indoor-outdoor space is backed by Azimut Libera Impresa and will be a permanent dialogue and exchange space for corporates, startups, research centers, and professionals to foster technological and entrepreneurial progress in the Mediterranean area.
"WeSports Center is our way of merging fitness, competition, and team spirit to create more inclusive and stimulating work environments," declares Nino Geraci. "We believe that gaming, eSports, and neurotraining can transform how companies promote employee well-being and engagement, opening new avenues for personal and professional growth."
With a rapidly expanding market and the enthusiasm sparked at the Maker Faire, Olympica is set to bring the WeSports Center to companies and communities, making well-being a cornerstone of organizational success. Immersive experiences like eSports and virtual reality enhance participants’ soft skills and foster collaboration. An index during the Maker Faire recorded a mean score of 70/100, highlighting the interest in the project’s innovative propositions.
The eSports industry continues to gain momentum, with 7.3 million Italians following gaming competitions and a 2023 turnover exceeding €2.3 billion, according to Deloitte’s 2024 Esports Report in collaboration with IIDEA. Its main revenue streams come from advertising, consulting, and content creation, positioning eSports as a strategic tool for building lasting brand-fan connections. This growth, driven by technologies like VR, AI, and live streaming, captivates a young and intergenerational audience, offering commercial and social opportunities.
