PM Shehbaz Calls for Immediate Cessation of Hostilities in Lebanon
In a separate meeting on the sidelines of the UNGA session, Prime Minister Sharif met with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss developments in the Middle East and the wider region. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, political independence, unity, and territorial integrity.
During the talks, the prime minister called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, strict adherence to ceasefire arrangements, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territory, and the full implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening longstanding and fraternal ties, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation through high-level exchanges, trade, investment, defense, and institutional linkages, while stressing continued coordination at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
